Expect to see a lot of blue, khaki and stripes making their way into your favorite stores.
Spring is the season of rebirth—a time when we feel a little lighter and want to look a bit more colorful and joyful. Once winter comes to a close, no matter what you've been wearing to work, you'll have the chance to step it up and step out in an updated style that will still work for your office environment. Just coming off of New York Fashion Week, here are some trends that may make you a stand-out in your office this spring.
1. Stripes
Stripes are here for spring in a very big way. They've always been safe as a blouse but now there are so many options for you to try that are perfect for your 9-to-5.
2. Fresh Florals
Floral prints are everywhere from dresses to pantsuits and flowy pants. If you don’t feel comfortable wearing the head-to-toe floral trend, a beautiful floral skirt or pant can freshen up your dark pencil skirt from winter.
3. Shades of Blue
It was so refreshing to see the variety of blue palettes across the runways. Blue is such a great color to mix with neutrals and while beautiful on its own, it is never a risk in an office to pull off. Navy has been a cornerstone of my wardrobe and I am looking forward to all of the different shades that will complement it this season.
4. Glam Rock
Bringing your rocker vibe to work may sound difficult, but don’t forget the amazing earrings and shoes that are available with enough metallic to be edgy and on-trend without upsetting senior management. To really turn it up, pick up a pair of on-point platforms as the weather heats up.
5. Updated Oxfords
If the idea of wearing an oxford takes you back to the preppy trends of days past, you are not alone. Today’s oxfords are much more modern and can be incorporated easily for the office with a more contemporary look. Expect to see oversized oxfords catching your eye this spring that you can pair with a basic navy pencil skirt.
6. Neons
No, I am not suggesting a head-to-toe neon outfit for work, unless you are a lead creative director, but adding a pop of neon to your basic work ensemble is just what the doctor ordered after a long winter.
7. Monochromatic Khakis
Kanye West has definitely brought the idea of neutrals to the forefront of fashion and now we can bring it to the office. Whether you fall for the new trench or the glamorous khaki dresses, there is something for everyone in the neutral family that will not shock co-workers but can make a classic addition to your closet. Khaki is even being hailed as the new black for spring.
